Protective Billionaire Boss by Evie Sterling
Emily is young and seeking to start fresh in the big city and create a new life. After she lost her husband to a drunk driver and became a young widow she isn’t sure of much other than wanting to start fresh and find her place in the world by leaving her past behind.
Warren is a billionaire overseeing a huge real estate corporation. He is all work and no play because that is what was drilled into him from a young age by his parents. However that all starts to change when he meets Emily, his newest employee.
Picking up and moving to a big city just weeks after losing her husband, Emily is excited at the prospect of a fresh start even with the grief that seems to be present everywhere she goes. Landing an administrative assistant position at a huge real estate corporation is perfect while she works towards getting her real estate license. However, she was not prepared to be drawn to her boss as much as she is. At first, she finds a great friend and confidant in Warren and is simply grateful to have someone she can talk to. However, coming from such a meager beginning she feels uncertain about the vast amount of wealth that Warren seems to want to lavish her with.
Trying to navigate their feelings is difficult. Emily is trying to get past the guilt of being attracted to someone so soon after her husband’s death, and Warren is trying to be supportive and allow her time to grieve. Then the unexpected happens when Emily learns that she is pregnant. Warren finds that he is just happy that she is happy about it. He loves that she wants to spend time with him and that it has nothing to do with his money, but trying to navigate these huge life changes is definitely a challenge!
Overall I really enjoyed the storyline and the dynamic between the characters. I think there could have been a bit more story development. It seemed like there were jumps in the story that could have been expanded on to make the reading a bit more smooth. I would have liked to see the characters have a bit more intimacy that lead to them being more than just friends, simple touching or a more affectionate kiss. However, I loved that he was so supportive of her during the pregnancy and that it was depicted with the ups and downs of all that comes with it.
I am giving this a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
