The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman
The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman is such a fun read! It’s set in a world where humans and wolves are enemies, always at each other’s throats. Aurora gets taken prisoner by Callum, an alpha wolf, and has to stay with the wolves. Right from the start, there’s this magnetic pull between them, but they’re both super wary because of all the bad blood between their people.
As the story goes on, they start giving in to their feelings little by little, but it’s complicated. Then there’s Blake—another alpha who’s all kinds of morally gray (sometimes straight-up dark), but you can’t help being drawn to him. He and Aurora end up working together a couple of times, which makes things even messier.
The book doesn’t end on a huge cliffhanger (thank goodness), but it definitely makes you want to dive into book two ASAP. Callum might seem all tough, but he’s got a soft side, while Blake’s got that brooding, dangerous vibe that’s hard to resist. I’ve heard people compare this to Outlander, but I can’t say since I haven’t read or watched it. If you liked The Vampire Diaries or ACOTAR, though, this feels like a perfect mash-up—just with wolves!
And honestly? I still have no clue who I’m rooting for—Callum or Blake!

That night, when the alpha escapes, he kidnaps her and takes her to the rugged lands north of the border — where the once warring werewolf clans are beginning to unite. He thinks that she is the key to winning the war against the humans.
Only, as they spend time around one another, forbidden attraction starts to grow. And as Aurora learns that not all wolves are bad, the alpha discovers that she is in danger from both his enemies, and those he once considered friends.
With monsters on both sides, a bloodthirsty war between humans and wolves raging, and undeniable passion growing between them — will their story end in love? Or tragedy?
And will Aurora ever get home?
Does she even want to?
